Council takes action on children left in cars

Baw Baw Shire Council has joined Kidsafe Victoria in their campaign “Do not leave children in cars”.

The partnership will see the council raise awareness of the dangers of leaving children unattended in cars by placing signs in council owned car parks.

Signs have been installed in car parks near shops, post offices, medical centres etc. in Warragul, Drouin, Trafalgar, Yarragon and Neerim South.

On a typical summer day, the temperate inside a parked car can reach 20-30 degrees hotter than the outside temperate, which can be fatal to young children.

In a 1 year period in 2014/2015 Victorian paramedics attended to 1,433 children who had been left unattended in cars.

  1. Your sings will not help. People just dont care enough. How about employees to only work in the car park supervision and patrol parked cars for childen left in there and they can call the police to remove the child and lay charges to the perdon who left the child that will save more lives than notice saying dont leave childen in cars
