Bonnie Sawyer-Thompson has been sentenced to 10 years jail for the death of Jack Nankervis.
Sawyer-Thompson killed Morwell man Nankervis in her unit by striking him 70 times with an axe and knife.
She pleaded guilty to defensive homicide, and could be the last ever person charged with that crime after a law change.
The court heard Sawyer-Thompson was in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend Phillip Mifsud and he had ordered her to kill Nankervis, and threatened to kill her family if she didn’t do so.
Sawyer-Thompson and Nankervis only met on the day of the death, the court was told.
She will be eligible for parole in 4 years.
