Dog and cat owners are being faced with large fines, for offences relating to irresponsible pet ownership.
18 people were charged last week in the Sale area, with various offences including:
– Dog rush (dog approaching public in an aggressive manner)
– Failure to have dogs on leads/contained
– Failure to register their cat or dog
– Failure to renew registration
The people received a range of penalties, from 6 month good behaviour bonds, to fines of $650.
Registration checks are conducted and local laws staff door knock in all areas.
Registration fees for pets range from $47-$153 per animal depending on their status. Pension concession of 50% off is available.
